In this episode Lindsay and Shaun return to the topic of games (see season 5 episode 2). This time they invite Dave Dodgson to join them to talk about using digital games. Over the episode they discuss digital games they have used, why they use them and give listeners advice on how to get started with them.

As your commute is coming to an end, here’s an activity you can take into class. We have been talking about gaming and how it can engage students. Why not use this engagement to get students to practice the language of reviews?

Start by asking the students to discuss games that they play and why they like playing with them. If you want to give them an example here’s Lindsay’s review of Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes.

You can use this to highlight how a review is a structured and key language. Next students think about the game they talked about use that to make a review. Following Lindsay’s example you could encourage them a “blog” post or use the camera on their mobile device to record a video review.
